Services
We always have over 200 Shelley items, and over 500+ vintage teacups in stock at any given time! I learned to love antiques and collectibles when my English grandmother told me stories of growing up and living in Victorian and Edwardian England and gave me her teapot and teacups when I was 16. I grew up in an English household complete with tea, eggies and soldiers, treacle tart and Sunday roast dinners. My first job was in an Egyptian antiquities shop followed by degrees in physical anthropology, and archaeological digs.
We just wanted to let you know that during this current period of "cocooning" or social distancing due to the Corvid-19 virus, we are continuing to run the business. We are continuing to list items and ship, although our usual 24 hour shipping window has had to be altered to 2-3. We are setting up post office pick ups, but if that is not possible, our daily post office runs will decrease to once or twice a week until things improve. As my husband has Parkinson's Disease and is a high risk for the virus, his health is my top priority.
I accept payment in US dollars. I accept all major credit cards and other payment options through my secure merchant interface. I am required by law to accept sales tax if you live in Washington state. Boring, yes.but ya gotta do it! Is your purchase a gift? Just let me know in the 'notes to seller' section at check out, and I'll be more than happy to make an appropriate card with your sentiments and leave out the invoice. We do offer a layaway plan for purchases over $100 and apply to US purchases only.
I received the teacup today. Oh, THANK YOU! It is beautiful. Just a note to tell you that it was a pleasure to look for an item on your site. Each time I look for something it seems to get harder and more complicate and time consuming. Your site is so easy picture description cost and shopping cart all in one spot.
Afternoon tea was originated in England in the 1800s as we know it and generally attributed to the 7th Duchess of Bedford who needed something to stave off afternoon hunger pangs while waiting for dinner and started the vogue of friends taking tea & gossip in the boudoir. TEA SUPERSTITIONS.Should the lid be accidentally left off the tea pot you may expect a stranger bearing ill tidings.

Antiques and Teacups gives such a beautiful and in depth presentation of our past that it makes it easy to understand our past but beautiful to look at as well. I really love looking at what they present on Facebook. They also haive such wonderful information about how our ancestors did things too.
