Baltzell Design Collection For more than 12 years, Virginia S. Baltzell has been at the center of design in Philadelphia. Baltzell coined the phrase "artistry for interiors" as she blends European sophistication with modern color schemes and artwork by local artists. What began with a passion for Tuscan furniture has evolved into a design collection that imports from Italy, France, Turkey, China and India.

Each handcrafted piece passes Baltzell's high standards before entering the showroom. In the spring of 2006, Baltzell moved from a small shop in the Old City section of Philadelphia to a large design center in the city's new artistic neighborhood of Northern Liberties.
Services
Beginning with a passion for Italian country pieces the design collection at Baltzell has evolved over the years. While the Tuscan furniture still forms the foundation of the collection, an important selection of Turkish kilims, an array of Chinese antiques including chairs, side tables and cabinets along with a smattering of French and Indian pieces have been added.
At Baltzell Design all of your personal design needs can be met. Interior design, color consultation, staging, installation and renovations are all within the realm of possibility. We can assist you with window treatments and all types of upholstering. The fabrics can be selected from our extensive fabric library or custom designed and made to your own specifications. From the initial concept to the final installation, Baltzell Design brings your ideas to life.
Baltzell has a marvelous selection of antiques and decorative arts from Italy, France, India and China. Ceramics, Bohemian glass, and terracotta pieces beautifully complement armoires, dining tables and cassetones. Our textiles include an exquisite selection of Turkish kilims, hand cut velvets, silks and linens.
Complementing the Italian furniture in our collection, we have hand-made ceramics which add brightness and color throughout the showroom and any other space. We have pieces from many regions of Italy including Campania, Perugia, Salerno and Tuscany where old techniques of painting and glazing are still used. Contemporary Italian craftsmen add new designs and color schemes to plates, vases and decorative items while maintaining these methods.

When I grow up and stop shopping at Ikea for my furniture and Target for my linens, I will be a loyal and proud customer of Baltzell. From the moment you walk into the showroom you're surrounded by opulent global textiles, gorgeous pieces of furniture from India, China and Italy, and eye popping floor coverings straight outta Turkey. My most coveted item in the entire world right now is the daybed with bunches and bunches of pillows.

I imagine how decadent it would be to flop onto it after a long day of Yelping or curl up under a cozy throw blanket to write to my heart's content. Virginia Baltzell is a much-respected Interior Designer and can take care of everything your space needs, from window treatments to upholstery, staging and events. And she's very nice to boot. It's located in the same building as Area 919, so you can get your visual stimulation under one roof. I'm totally going to start saving my spare change so I can treat myself to something special from Baltzell.
