Manhattan Arts & Antiques Center If you've visited The MAAC, you've seen exceptional art and antiques from Egypt, Greece and Persia - at galleries like: Anavian Gallery, Palmyra Heritage, Lev Tov Antiques, and Textiles as Art. Clockwise from top left: Islamic Covered Bowl, hard stone and brass, south east Asia, 1900.

Celebrating now its 45th Anniversary (founded in 1974), The Manhattan Art & Antiques Center in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, is the nation's largest with 100 galleries and over 40 categories representing America's top dealers in every category or arts and antiques.
Services
There are lots of rug galleries in this building. Our favorites: Les Looms, for old Caucasian rugs, Turkish Oushaks tapestries, and French Aubus-sons. This midtown counterpart to the Chelsea antiques zone is home to 100 galleries selling just about any kind of antique furnishings, jewelry, paintings, tapestries, and clocks you can imagine.

Not much to see here. Most sellers aren't present and most antiques are stored in a lackluster way. The items are for a very specific clientele which is definitely not the ordinary person looking for interesting pieces. It could be viewed as a museum, however none of the pieces are put in the forefront. If you are looking for an interesting afternoon in a museum-like environment, then this is the place. If your looking to buy antiques, this is most likely not the right place.

Very happy that the Art & Antiques Center is open. Sunday was my first time to return since March. Public spaces were spotless. The main entrance was manned by a very pleasant gentleman, professionally dressed with a tie. After saying good afternoon, he politely asked that I sign the guest book (for tracing, if necessary), took my temperature, then welcomed me to the Center.

All very civilized. The Center is a treasure trove of virtually every possible period with something for every collector. My favorite shop is David Meyers Antiques on the lower lever just off of the spiral staircase. David is extremely well versed in his collections offered in his shop.one area of import is Chinese Export. Also an excellent range of European pieces. A very polite and articulate dealer.affordable prices, too!

Newman is a pleasant person but they don't purchase art anymore. The owner sells, restores, and frames art.

First impression was awful. I wrote an urgent(even put urgent in the subject box) and brief email to this building asking a simple yes or no question. Three days later no response or sign of them even opening it. I can imagine its busy over there, but three days straight of busy to where you cant read a 3 sentence email and say yes or no? Nah.

Illisa's Vintage Lingerie recently joined the fantastic portfolio of Antique and Fine Art Merchant's. Illisa the owner is hands on and has 40 years experience recently moved into the center. Specializing In Early 1900's Night Attire & Accessories. A favorite of the Fashion elite's, old school knowledge, inventory, expertise. A true gem.

This is the most unique store of its kind in North America. Illisa has collaborated with industry titans in fashion, theater, film, tv, music. Her credits are impressive enough to not have a website, email address. A New York Original! Call her Tel # 212-627-2800 or Visit Gallery 92 In the Antique Center.

I've been to the open-air Bermondsey Market and a number of others in London, in Amsterdam and Antwerp, over the years. Contrast them to a collective indoor consortium down the block from Sutton Place. Here, there are real professional-specialist types as to paintings, clocks, furniture, jewelry, sculpture, lighting, rugs, antiquarian books, Judaica, tapestry, china, crystal.

Some dealers are approachable, some appear apathetic, but not one acts as if they're doing you a favor. Like any time you need to spend discretionary resources, or sell what you hold, you need to do thorough research. Be sure of that authenticity. Once you do, you can be overjoyed with your prized possession(s)! Pertinent: Many vendors are closed on Saturday.

Highly recommended. Very interesting spot. There are literally dozens of independent stores spread across 3 levels. There are all sorts of treasures to find and deals to snag. They after open on weekends, even Sundays! Unfortunately many of the independent dealers are closed though. For the best experience, try to go during a week day.

The best place for genuine antiques in town and the country. Open 7 days a week but each gallery is its own entity so check with who you want to see before you go. Afternoons are the best times.

A wonderful collection of true antiques. Fine art, statuary, furniture, cultural relics. I've added a few exquisite 19th century paintings to my walls from this place. While the inventory is amazing, some -- but, only some-- of the vendors are not as charismatic, helpful, or friendly as they could be. It can be like pulling teeth to get a price or information on a piece you find interesting. I've actually had to walk away from a space here because it was too much trouble for a vendor to show me a work or get me a price.

Perhaps I just don't look like someone who can afford their wares? It's either the sellers don't take me seriously, or they don't take their sales seriously. That said, the vendors I have bought from were wonderful. And, I treasure and cherish the pieces I acquired here. I describe it to friends as "A museum where everything is for sale, " and tell them they should drop by when in town.

Incredible treasures to find there. Its basically on of the best 'museums' in Manhattan - and you can actually shop there. Even though you may need the necessary changes and space for some of the items. Incredible things to see in the many stores. Check it out for yourself :

A number of interesting shops, but a little intimidating. Dissapointing number of shops where items are not clearly priced. Too many empty shops. The place feels like it needs a revamp to stay relevent. It could be a lot more user-friendly. Virtually nothing for collectors of mid century. Also a bit slim on eighteenth century English antiques, and very little Amercan. I live nearby and collect antiques, so I'd love to see this place up its game.

Imagine all your oldest relative's attics, furniture and fine silver tucked away in one location in individual 'stores' of varying themes and prices. Many of the stalls are closed with contact information so you can only view with your face pressed against the glass or grates. Other stalls are open and staffed by friendly and not-so-friendly owners who seem bent on not selling their antiques. A mixed bag, but lots of fun to shop and worth the journey to the east side of Manhattan.

All the items look like they belong in a museum. Very nice, 3 floor antique galleries with various items from around the world. I had a great time exploring this place with my sister. We were the only people there so we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. I would say the friendliest gallery owner was Hadassa Antiques Gallery.

I came with my friends yesterday to look for some gifts for the holidays. They have an eclectic variety of all kinds of antiques! I was able to find what I was looking for and the staff was very friendly. Must come if you are looking for antiques in New York!

What an absolutely amazing, fantastic building. A 3 level gem, hidden in the middle of Manhattan, with 80 dealers selling everything from silver, jewelry, art, books, furniture, chandeliers, statues, vases, bronzes, marble, paintings, Oriental etc. etc. Even a vintage perfume bottle dealer. This has to be seen to be believed. Something for everyone. Monday to Friday all year round.
