We came to Wharton, TX, James and I, after 6+ years on the road with the antique shows. The shows had been good to us, but had begun a decline due to being overrun by crafts, reproductions and garage sale items.
It was an expensive, exhausting lifestyle and it was just time to try another path. Wharton offered charm and location; far enough from Houston so that one doesn't have to put up with the annoyances of city life and traffic, and CLOSE enough to make Wharton attractive as a day-trip destination for Houstonians who have tired of the impersonal shopping experience in their home town and are looking for something a bit different.

Antiques > Vintage Kitchen Items and then select Graniteware. Here is a vintage kitchen scale by American Family Scale. As you can see in the photos, it is in very nice condition with only minimal very light surface rust. I'm told that surface rust can be removed using an art gum eraser, but I've not tried to do that as I don't know what your plans are for the scale.

Here is a vintage graniteware biggin for coffee. Some superficial chips as shown in photos, but no damage that affects use or display, at least in my opinion. Best thing about this one is that there are no missing parts; the top filter is still present and in most cases with these old biggins, that part is long gone by the time you find the coffee pot.

All of my pottery & porcelain items are in excellent to pristine condition unless otherwise stated in their descriptions. All pictures appearing in collages are saved separately on my computer, should you require them. Lovely pair of Abbingdon candle holders; most likely part of a console set, but maybe not.
